This is very difficult to find information you may need to locate easily. It appears the author simply copied old articles and reused them. There is a ton of stuff on what to do if a volcano erupts. But looking up things like survival kit or first aid kit recommendations is not as easy to find. You will find entries on those on multiple pages throughout the book. Some of it is almost conflicting information too. They tend to be with each category. But to come up with an overall kit... well that will take a lot of work to balance each against the other. It can be an interesting read when in a nostalgic mood. But I think it is better to focus on more reliable sources for things your health and life may depend on.

The book is straightforward, indexed wonderfully, and is unbelievable how much information the author stores between these pages.It is an essential part of my backpacking/hiking/camping kit; I believe the additional weight is worth the tradeoff of having this handy.Given the volume of information, it is not as in-depth as explanations for entirely new/novice backpackers. Therefore, I highly recommend that you read and understand the relevant portions of your trip, beforehand.Overall, if you are in the market for an informational book on survival, shelter, bushcraft, animal tracking, and quite possibly any other issue you will encounter in the wild, look no further than this book.
This book really has a ton of great information, but I personally can't stand how it is organized. There are just a bunch of paragraphs plastered all over every page, along with a bunch of pictures that are totally unnecessary. Take a look at the book cover, the random mess depicted there is exactly how the book is organized - literally every single page looks like that. It reminds me of a child's current events and news collage. If you can handle your info in little tidbits, then by all means, buy it! Like I said - tons of great info. But if you are like me, and would rather be informed through a traditionally structured book/text in great detail, then I would look elsewhere....
It's a wonderful coffee table book. Nothing to honestly prepare yourself for serious situations but it is surprisingly technical (though brief) and the pictures/format make it a great book to read in random spurts. Well worth $14
This book is not very well laid out and most of the scenarios it covers would not be likely for most people. Not a lot of practical information in this book. A lot of interesting information, it just isn't useful for the average joe.
Great information in this book. I grew up camping and learned many camping skills from doing that, and this book still teaches me things that make camping easier.
Another awesome survival book! You can never get enough and you can definitely live in the wilderness and survive using these books! Of course you need to use precautions anytime your in the wilderness! Great book!
This book is jam packed with all kinds of survival tips for everything you can possibly imagine. Enjoy all the diagrams and pictures. Has all kinds of information you don't usually find in other survival books.
