One thing I always enjoy about the Ordinary Dude guides is how digestible they are. An Ordinary Dude's Guide to Habit is an absolutely perfect weekend read. The author provides really specific tips that can begin having an impact on your life right away. Since it's not a fluffy book, you don't have an excuse because you can get through it in a weekend. Not only that, by Monday you'll have plenty of tactics under your belt so you'll feel empowered to get your habit change underway. I personally really enjoyed the examples the author used about his failed habits and how he overcame his habit kryptonite. Many of the examples were very similar to the challenges that I've faced so they were really relevant. If you've read habit books but are still failing, this is the book for you. I'm on a great trajectory now and forming sticky habits thanks to this book.
John does it again with this addition to his Ordinary Dude series. I am an ordinary dude and I appreciate how it feels as though John is speaking directly to me in this guide. I have trouble establishing habits and the tips I picked up in his guide have already begun to help me change the direction of my life. I've learned why I've failed in the past to break and make habits. And now that I have some practical advice I can use immediately, I can see some changes day by day.
Interesting take on a subject we've all struggled with at one point. Easy to follow, practical advice, and a great read for anyone looking to get a little more out of life, and build positive habits of their own.What I really enjoyed was all the personal stories interwoven through the chapters, so you're getting actual examples of John putting this in action. Feels highly personal, like he's opening up to you over a beer at the pub. Definitely worth a read!
Awesome read! I didn’t really see myself as having trouble setting goals or changing habits, but as I read more I kept finding similarities between his examples and my life or a friends life. A great book for anyone- someone who feels like they crush at life, or someone who is totally lost and needs some help starting a habit change. Really great experiences he talks about that I think can relate to anyone, ordinary or not :) I can’t wait to get this to my friends and family!
John breaks down a difficult subject to implement by providing sound direction and introspective analysis about taking steps to beginning positive habits and personal growth. The content delves deep but stays easily digestible which is no small task for the topic. Definitely worth the read!
The book has lots of practical strategies, but there’s more to it than that. It’s very uplifting in its message and even inspirational at points. Having been a big fan of ORDINARY DUDE'S GUIDE TO MEDITATION, which helped me finally get into a meditation groove, I was thrilled to discover ODG to HABIT. In the past I've managed to land many of my simpler new year's resolutions, but I still struggle with trying to eat and stay healthy. ODG to HABIT has explained why in the past that I've been able to stick to some habits and come up short on others. Highly recommend both books, as a little meditation goes a long way in helping one stick either to good habits and shed the bad ones.
